Armed Robberies in Deep Bay.

REGS 3 AUG 12.

April-May, 1912.

(a). Licensed Trading Junk No. 1696 H reports robbery off

Mong Taeng, near Pingshan, while at anchor at 11.20 p.m. on April 8th., by 6 men armed 2 with revolvers, 2 with daggers and 2 with chisels. Money and goods stolen, value $163.06. Robbers spoke Punti (Sai Lo) Dialect and can be identified.

(b). Licensed Trading Junk No. S. 1344 H, reports that while under way about 3 p.m. on April 23rd. he was attacked at the mouth of Deep Bay by about 12 men in a two-masted junk which left Sham Chun that morning, and was apparently waiting for the junk. Shots were fired at his junk, one striking and killing the master's son, aged 15. Five robbers boarded the junk, one armed with a rifle, and four with revolvers, and ordered the crew into and the cabin. However the Guard-boat from the Oyster Beds came, fired at the robbers' boat: then all the robbers left and sailed away in direction of Chik Wan, Chinese Territory. Robbers spoke Punti (Sai Lo) Dialect.

(c). Licensed Trading Junk No. 5. 1106 H reports that about 1a.m. on 9th. May while off Tai Tseng, in the Un Long Creek, about 10 men came on board from an oyster boat, about 25 feet long, with one mast. All the robbers had rifles or revolvers and carried ammunition in leather or canvas belts across their shoulders. Money and goods of value of about $156.50 stolen. The robbers spoke Punti (Sai Lo) Dialect, and some can be identified.
